Footage Released from Tragic Accident on Yerevan-Meghri Highway
On August 29, 2021, around 10:00 AM, a 50-year-old resident of Ararat Province, driving a Nissan Almera, veered into oncoming traffic at the 184.5 km mark of the Yerevan-Meghri highway and collided with an Opel Zafira driven by a 48-year-old resident of the Republic of Artsakh. As a result of the accident, the 50-year-old man died at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Opel Zafira, as well as three passengers in the Nissan Almera, suffered injuries and were taken to a medical center. Unfortunately, one of the passengers, a 45-year-old man, died while being transported to the hospital.
Following the incident, a criminal case was initiated on the same day by the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Syunik Regional Investigative Division in Sisian under Article 242, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code. An examination of the scene has been conducted, and forensic examinations have been appointed. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
