UN Secretary-General Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Kabul

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed concern over the situation in Afghanistan following the explosions in Kabul. This was announced by the official spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric.

According to the spokesperson, the Secretary-General emphasized the United Nations' commitment to assisting the Afghan people. “The UN Secretary-General is monitoring the events with great concern. He condemns these terrorist attacks that have resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians and extends his condolences to the families of the victims. What has happened demonstrates the instability of the situation in Afghanistan and reinforces our determination to assist the Afghan people,” said Stéphane Dujarric.

Near Kabul's international airport, terrorists carried out two explosions, the first at the northern entrance of the airport and the second near the Abbey Hotel, where Americans were gathered. The death toll from the blasts has risen to 15, with over 50 others injured.

The Politico newspaper, citing sources within the American administration, reported that the responsibility for the incident lies with the terrorist group 'Islamic State.' Earlier, US President Joe Biden stated that militants from this group are looking for opportunities to attack Americans and their allies in Afghanistan.
