Biden's Approval Rating Drops Amid Events in Afghanistan
President Joe Biden's approval rating has declined to 46%, influenced by the Taliban's rise to power in Afghanistan. This is according to the results of a poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos.
According to the agency, this rating is the lowest during his time in office, marking a 7 percent drop compared to similar polls conducted last week. Prior to the Taliban's entry into Kabul, 53% of Americans rated Biden's actions positively.
The source notes that Biden's approval rating is lower than that of former President George Bush, under whose administration the U.S. deployed troops to Afghanistan.
According to a separate Ipsos survey, 75% of Americans support sending additional troops to Afghanistan to ensure the security of key facilities until U.S. troop withdrawal is complete. The same percentage of U.S. citizens also approves of the evacuation of Afghans who assisted American troops.
U.S. authorities plan to fully withdraw troops from Afghanistan by September 11.
