Video: We Have No Intention of Capturing Territories, Says Nikol Pashinyan

We absolutely accept the call of the co-chairs to refrain from provocative actions and statements. This was stated today, August 12, at the start of a regular government meeting by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“On July 29, during a government meeting, I outlined the Armenian government’s vision regarding the de-escalation of the situation in our region, the steps toward long-term stability, and the establishment of peace, as well as highlighted Armenia's readiness to work in this direction with international partners. On July 29, the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group also issued a statement, the key message of which was the undertaking of steps aimed at reducing tension along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and a call to both Azerbaijan and Armenia to refrain from provocative actions and statements. The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the co-chairs' statement on July 30, thus expressing Armenia's commitment to resume peaceful negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group.

We absolutely accept the call of the co-chairs to refrain from provocative actions and statements. It is clear that maintaining this condition is crucial for creating a conducive negotiation atmosphere. While the traceability of provocative statements does not present significant complexity, the issue of identifying the party that initiates provocative actions and violations of the ceasefire regime always gives rise to debates,” said Pashinyan.

According to him, the identification of the side initiating the ceasefire violations and the condemnation of these provocative actions are crucial for the further de-escalation and stabilization of the situation: “It is difficult to imagine without the activation of international monitoring mechanisms. I have said that I believe this should be an observation mission of the CSTO, and if that is not acceptable for the CSTO, the alternative remains the observation mission of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.”
