Gnel Sanosyan on the Unblocking of Communication Routes in the Region
Unblocking pertains to two countries that must simultaneously unlock transport routes, initiating communication that will benefit not only us but also our neighboring countries in the region.
Gnel Sanosyan, the newly appointed Minister of Territorial Management and Infrastructure, made these remarks during a briefing following a government meeting while elaborating on his vision for unblocking communication routes in the region.
“Especially when it comes to the railroad, we cannot achieve unblocking without building infrastructure, as there are sections where the former rail network is absent and new lines need to be constructed,” he stated.
According to him, the routes of the railway to be built will be the same as during the Soviet era. “It is well known that the railway passed through Nakhichevan and Meghri. If a decision is made to operate the railway, then that route should be restored. There was a line toward Ijevan during Soviet times. Presumably, when there is peace in the region and we manage to completely unblock, I believe it will also be economically advantageous to operate in those directions,” said Sanosyan.
