Blog writer and editor Aram Gevorgyan wrote on his Facebook page:

“This man's photo has been widely circulated these days. It was written that he received medals for his two sons. Since I was in the block, I was trying to tell my friends through letters that the man actually received two medals for one son—one for Bravery, if I'm not mistaken, and the other one for the Combat Cross.”

The photograph features the father of Senior Sergeant Anania Aramyan, Samvel Aramyan. Anania was in the battalion that had been sent from Akna (Aghdam) to the already captured Hadrut. The boys were trapped, fought heroically for several hours, and all were killed on October 11 in an unequal battle against Turkish special forces.

Anania was 19 years old, from the village of Arevshat in the Ararat region.
