We Stand Guard at the Post at Night, Work During the Day, and Then They Demand Our Resignation? - Head of Tegh Community

In the border villages of the Syunik region, the situation remains calm, and the villagers are engaged in agricultural work. This was stated by Nerses Shadunts, the head of the enlarged Tegh community, in an interview with NEWS.am, noting that there are sometimes sporadic gunfire, but no incidents have occurred.

“There will still be hay harvesting until late autumn, then we will start plowing the land, followed by sowing. Yesterday in Khoznavar, and today in Vaghatur village, agricultural machinery is being distributed. People formed groups, received these motorblocks, and for now, everyone is busy with their own affairs, but I can’t say what will happen later,” he said.

According to Shadunts, the villagers have already adapted to the conditions of being in a border area, and there is not such a significant pace of emigration observed. “We are trying to create favorable conditions, whether it's irrigation water, agricultural machinery, or improving streets and roads; we will try to see how it works out. Right now, we are developing a multi-vector agriculture. Previously, when we had 60,000 sheep, we are forgetting about that; that is no longer possible. We are also forgetting about sowing wheat and barley over thousands of hectares, which we used to do until the Araks river valley. Now we will try to cultivate high-value products in our plots, which are in demand, and we have transitioned to drip irrigation to develop in a completely different direction. We will try, and we will see what we can achieve,” he added.
