Armen Sarqsyan Has Not Received Offer from Nikol Pashinyan for Foreign Minister Position

The President of Armenia, Armen Sarqsyan, has not yet received an offer from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the appointment of a new Minister of Foreign Affairs. This information was confirmed to NEWS.am by the presidential administration.

Nikol Pashinyan was appointed Prime Minister on August 2. In a conversation with NEWS.am, Ruben Melikyan, co-founder of the NGO 'Legal Way', noted that the deadline for the President to receive written proposals for ministerial appointments was August 7.

According to Article 3 of the Law on the Structure and Activities of the Government of Armenia, “The government is formed within fifteen days after the appointment of the Prime Minister, and within five days of his appointment, the Prime Minister presents to the President of the Republic a written proposal on the candidates for Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers, which includes the corresponding candidate’s surname, name, patronymic, and the position for which they are proposed.”

At this moment, the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs remains vacant. The duties of the Minister of Foreign Affairs are currently being performed by Deputy Minister Armen Grigoryan.
