Wrestler Vazgen Tevanyan Lost in Initial Match: Armenian Wrestler to Compete for Bronze

The Olympic wrestling tournament continues at the Makuhari Messe Arena in Tokyo. The last Armenian wrestler to enter the competition is 65 kg category athlete Vazgen Tevanyan. In his first match, Tevanyan faced Gaji Murad Rashidov, a representative of the Russian Olympic Committee team. Rashidov is a world champion and a double gold medalist at the European Championships. Tevanyan lost his opening match with a score of 6:0. The Armenian wrestler will compete for bronze if Rashidov reaches the finals.

Later, Armenian boxer Hovhannes Bachkov will enter the ring at 09:30 AM Yerevan time. His opponent is David Kayshun from the USA, a silver medalist at the Pan American Games and a world championship runner-up. Before this, Bachkov has won three matches, securing victories over representatives from Antigua and Barbuda, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan.

Armenia has won three medals at the 32nd Summer Olympic Games. Weightlifter Simon Martirosyan and Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan earned silver medals, while gymnast Artur Davtyan claimed a bronze. The Tokyo Summer Olympic Games will conclude on August 8.
