There is a lot to say, but not now: Arthur Aleksanyan posts a message
Arthur Aleksanyan, a member of Armenia's Greco-Roman wrestling team and a holder of Olympic gold, silver, and bronze medals, expressed his gratitude to everyone for their support.
“There is a lot to say, but not now. We have what we have. Whether injured or not, I am always ready to fight for my country. Thank you for your congratulations. I felt your support every moment,” Aleksanyan wrote on his Instagram page.
Earlier, Gevorg Aleksanyan, the coach of the Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team, had expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the referees judging the Armenian athletes' matches at the Olympic Games. In an interview with Armenian journalists in Tokyo, he emphasized, “Several members of the Greco-Roman wrestling team, three in total, were deprived of both medals and the color of the medal due to biased officiating. Three athletes from our team were ready to win medals. Our team was demolished. I can't say this was my own thought, but I will talk about it later. I am very upset.”
During the awarding ceremony for the winners in the 97 kg weight category of Greco-Roman wrestling at the Tokyo Olympic Games, Arthur Aleksanyan did not hang an Olympic medal around his neck, and later, according to Russian media, he stated in a mixed zone interview that one must be Russian to win.
