Major Accident Occurs in Ararat Province: 4 Family Members, Including 2 Children, Hospitalized
A major traffic accident took place in Ararat Province today, August 6. Around 21:20, a collision occurred on the Yerevan-Eraskh highway within the administrative territory of the village of Poghrev Vedi involving a "VAZ 2107" car and a "ZIL" truck.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, emergency responders from the Vedi Fire and Rescue Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene promptly. The first to assist the injured were citizens and rescuers.
From the Artashat Medical Center, two injured children were transferred to the "St. Astvatsamayr" Medical Center in Yerevan, while two adults were taken to the "Erebuni" Medical Center. Additionally, officers from the 2nd Battalion of the Road Police arrived at the scene, led by Battalion Commander Grigor Poghosyan, Platoon Commander Karapet Harutyunyan, and Senior Inspector Artyom Beklaryan.
Investigation work at the site is led by Senior Investigator Anushavan Sagoyan from the same battalion, who is preparing materials regarding the incident.
Rescue workers disabled the vehicles, closed the gas cylinder, and secured the area. The duty group from the Ararat Police Department also arrived on-site under the responsibility of the day's duty officer. The police are identifying the drivers and the injured.
According to the photojournalist's information, those hospitalized are family members: 36-year-old Arzrune Ohanyan, 32-year-old Zvart Minasyan, 6-year-old Hrant Ohanyan, and 8-year-old Gevorg Ohanyan.
