Details Emerge on Attack Against Arman Antonyan
Aravot.am reports that on August 1, a report was made regarding bodily injuries inflicted on Yerevan City Council member Arman Antonyan and his grandfather, Azat Antonyan. On the same day, a criminal case was initiated in the Nairi Investigation Department under Articles 118, 147 (1st part), and 34-104 (2nd part, 7th item) of the RA Criminal Code.
According to information obtained by 'Aravot', it was revealed through investigative actions that Arman and Azat Antonyan were attacked by Suren P., who is the head of the Olympic cycle specialized school for cycling within the 'Hayastan' sports NGO. He inflicted multiple injuries on Arman Antonyan and Azat Antonyan with a sharp cutting and piercing instrument he had on him.
Earlier reports indicated that on August 1, a masked, knife-armed attack occurred in the Kotayk region. Around 01:10 am, two masked individuals entered a private home on one of the streets of Nor Hajn city through an open door, likely attempting to commit robbery but faced resistance. As reported by a photojournalist, some time later, a call was received at the Kotayk regional police department indicating that a citizen was transported to the 'Abovyan' medical center with diagnoses of 'polytrauma, foreign body, cold weapon, traumatic pneumothorax'. Shortly after, another citizen was admitted to the same medical center with a diagnosis of 'open wound of the skull region, hematoma of the right lower eyelid'. The operational group of the Kotayk regional police department, led by Chief Arthur Zohrapyan, also responded to the hospital. A group from the Kotayk regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee, headed by the head of the Nairi investigative division, Ashot Dallakyan, and senior investigator for particularly important cases, Seryozha Sedrakyan, also arrived on site.
Police and investigators clarified that the injured parties were residents of one of the buildings on 4th street of Nor-Artamet in Nor Hajn city: 42-year-old Arman Antonyan and 87-year-old Azat Antonyan. The assailants fled the scene upon encountering resistance.
