16-Year-Old Son Arrested on Suspicion of Killing 48-Year-Old Father in Dzoraghbyur

On August 6, 2021, at 12:05 PM, a report was received from the Abovyan Medical Center regarding a death in a house in the village of Dzoraghbyur, Kotayk Province. On the same day, at 1:00 PM, the wife of the deceased man reported that her son had stabbed his father in the morning.

An investigative-operational group immediately went to the scene and discovered the man’s body on a couch in the living room of the house, with multiple stab and cut wounds to the chest and neck areas.

A criminal case has been opened in the Abovyan Investigative Division of the Kotayk Provincial Investigative Committee under the features of part 1 of Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code. As a result of urgent investigative and other procedural actions, as well as operational-search measures, it was determined that the fatal injuries had been inflicted by the man’s minor 16-year-old son. The teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his father.

During the investigation, necessary investigative actions were carried out, including an inspection of the crime scene where blood-like traces were found, samples were taken, several individuals were interrogated, and medical-legal, forensic-genetic, forensic-trace, and biological expert examinations were appointed to clarify circumstances of significant importance to the criminal case. Clothing worn by the victim and the alleged perpetrator at the time of the incident has been seized.

Appropriate measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case, ensure an objective and comprehensive investigation, and recover the knife that was used as the instrument of the crime.
