Collision Between Mercedes and BMW in Gegharkunik: One Injured Person Transferred to Yerevan by Aviation Helicopter

Today, on August 4, a serious car accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 3:00 PM, vehicles of the Mercedes and BMW brands collided on the road leading from Tsovaghu to the town of Chambarak.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, two individuals were transported to the Chambarak Medical Center, one of whom is in extremely critical condition.

Emergency responders from the 1st platoon of the 4th squad of the 2nd police battalion swiftly arrived on the scene, led by squad commander Edgar Suslyan and platoon commander Vachagan Voskanyan. Senior investigator Harutyun Margaryan of the same squad is conducting investigative measures at the scene.

The police's Chambarak division emergency response team also arrived promptly, led by the on-duty officer of the day. The photojournalist reports that as a result of the collision, the BMW flipped upside down and was reduced to scrap metal, while the Mercedes crashed into the iron guardrails, rendering it non-operational. The police are working to identify the drivers and injured parties.

The Chambarak Medical Center is awaiting the arrival of a helicopter from the Ministry of Emergency Situations to transfer one of the injured to a hospital in Yerevan.
