Our Party Demands Ensuring the Presence of Our Two Partners in the National Assembly: Seyran Ohanyan
Our faction demands ensuring the unobstructed presence of our partners in the National Assembly so they can fulfill their constitutional duties. This was stated by Seyran Ohanyan, a member of the "Armenia" faction, referring to their detained members of parliament.
Armen Rustamyan, another member of the "Armenia" faction, noted that we are in an extraordinary situation. "There has never been such an assembly where two members are under detention. They are unable to attend National Assembly sessions against their will and fully exercise their powers. If we believe that nothing has happened, we can calmly proceed with the agenda while ignoring everything; this way, we won't reach a good place. We have no right to advance through gross violations and breaches of regulations. A state of lawlessness has occurred before our eyes, circumventing inviolability—our two members are in custody. This is not only an infringement on those members but also a disgrace to the National Assembly," the MP indicated, addressing the detention of Armenia Alliance members Arthur Sargsyan and Mkhitar Zakaryan.
Armen Rustamyan suggested allowing time to discuss this matter and reach an agreement. Vladimir Vardanyan, a member from the "My Step" faction, noted that a member has the right to inviolability, which must be overcome; however, in this case, we are dealing with a situation where the actions took place before these individuals received their parliamentary mandates. "As candidates, their inviolability has been overcome by the relevant decisions of the CEC. We all have a duty to ensure the further functioning of the National Assembly here," Vladimir Vardanyan stated, suggesting first to form the bodies of the National Assembly and then discuss such issues.
