Khachatur Sukiasyan on the First Session of the National Assembly and Armenia's Border Demarcation

Khachatur Sukiasyan on the First Session of the National Assembly and Armenia's Border Demarcation

"To be honest, I did not envision the first session of the National Assembly like this; I expected a somewhat more collaborative atmosphere, but it is a matter of a political decision, and they have decided to move forward in this manner, and we accept that decision," said ruling party MP Khachatur Sukiasyan during a briefing with reporters.

Commenting on the restrictions for journalists in the National Assembly that will take effect today, the ruling party MP stated that any journalist should have the right to ask questions at any time. "This ensures our development, provides transparency, facilitates the revelation of problems, discussion around issues, and expression of viewpoints, which is very beneficial for our country...,” Sukiasyan remarked, adding that he is ready to communicate and answer any questions at any moment.

In light of these restrictions, addressing the murders in the National Assembly on October 27, 1999, the ruling MP stated, "If there had been such a strict atmosphere on October 27, we would not have had those losses, Armenia would not have fallen behind so much. Something happened in 1999, I was here; I saw everything."

Regarding the situation at the border of Armenia, Khachatur Sukiasyan said, "Of course, it will be tense, there will be provocations, and of course, we should be prepared and manage everything very calmly and coolly so that we can secure our Armenian borders in the way we consider and envision, using all security instruments available."
