Tokyo 2020: Bachkov Defeats Azerbaijani and Advances to Quarterfinals
European Games champion Hovhannes Bachkov, competing in the 63 kg category, faced Azerbaijani Javid Chalabiev in the 1/8 finals of the Tokyo 2020 boxing tournament and emerged victorious by the judges' decision, reports Armsport.am.
Our boxer achieved a brilliant win with a score of 4-1 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the boxing tournament. Here, Bachkov will compete against Uzbekistan's Elnur Abduraliyev. The quarterfinal match is scheduled for August 3.
Chalabiev is the 2013 world champion. He previously competed in the 56 kg category and won against Aram Avagyan at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Samsun in 2016.
