Residents Expect Gunfire to Approach but It Remains Distant, Says Yeraskh Resident
The current situation at our border is peaceful; there was light gunfire in the morning, but now it is calm. Gunfire does not reach the village, and even the sounds of shooting are not heard everywhere, said Karin Ishkhanian, a resident of Yeraskh, in an interview with ArmDaily.am.
She noted that even now people in the village are busy with their everyday activities. "To be honest, I can’t say there is panic in the village, but of course, there is some anxiety. It's like we are always expecting that the gunfire might come closer, but for now, it is still far away. This kind of shooting hasn’t happened before; it has only been this past month that they have been firing from that one position almost every day. In any case, there is no emigration from the village. Everyone is engaged in their daily routines; for instance, today we went to harvest grass for the livestock, collected it, and now we need to make it into hay and bring it back," she said.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Defense had just released a statement indicating that on July 31 at 06:30, Azerbaijani military units opened fire in the direction of the Armenian positions located in the Yeraskh section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and attempted to carry out construction work using engineering equipment. Following the response actions of the Armenian defenders, the enemy's fire was silenced, and the construction work was halted.
