Samvel Asatryan Comments on Gunfire Heard: What Does It Indicate?
Currently, the situation at the border is calm, and the sporadic gunfire is attributed to either fear, responding to sounds from the hills, or an attempt to remind others of their presence. This was stated by Colonel Samvel Asatryan, head of the information department of the Armenian Armed Forces General Staff's organizational department, in an interview with ArmDaily.am.
He also reported that as a result of heightened tensions last night, there were no injuries on the Armenian side.
Recall that since July 29, starting from 23:00, attempts have been recorded for UAVs to enter Armenian airspace over the Gegharkunik section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. All attempts were thwarted by the actions of the Armenian Armed Forces' anti-aircraft units. In particular, an "Aerostar" type UAV, which is part of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces' arsenal, was shot down, and its debris fell about 3.5 kilometers north of the village of Vanevan in the Gegharkunik province.
