Recent Explosion Likely Involved Drone, Says Vardenis Mayor

A loud explosion was heard in the Gegharkunik region earlier today, likely due to the downing of a drone. This was reported by Aram Melkonyan, the mayor of Vardenis, in a conversation with Factor.am.

“Just now there was a bang and a light flashed in the air. I couldn’t quite understand what it was yet; I haven’t managed to clarify. From what I understood, it was a drone,” noted the Vardenis mayor.

When asked about the situation in the border area, Melkonyan responded that it had been calm until now. “I returned from the border two hours ago—both from Verin Shorja and Nerkhin Shorja. There were no gunfire incidents. It was quiet,” he concluded.
