Nikol Pashinyan Considers Azerbaijan's Behavior Unacceptable in Conversation with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross

Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a phone conversation with Peter Maurer, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). According to the Government's information and public relations department, Nikol Pashinyan highly appreciated the ICRC's efforts to resolve issues related to Armenian prisoners of war unlawfully detained in Azerbaijan, as well as other humanitarian issues in the region.

As a matter of urgency, the acting prime minister stressed the importance of the prompt return of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages, and other detained individuals. Pashinyan drew attention to the fact that Azerbaijan has initiated fabricated criminal cases against Armenian captives while concealing the accurate number of individuals being held in captivity.

Pashinyan deemed Azerbaijan's actions unacceptable, considering them a blatant and gross violation of international humanitarian law. Mr. Maurer assured that his organization would continue to exert all efforts to resolve humanitarian issues.

Both interlocutors emphasized the importance of strengthening and deepening cooperation on an institutional basis between the two sides. An agreement was reached to activate existing connections and make communications more regular.
