Fragmented Testimonies in the Case of Assassination Attempt on Jalal Harutyunyan: What’s the Key Question?

The daily newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that nine months have passed, yet no one has been charged in the case of the assassination attempt on the former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Jalal Harutyunyan. Moreover, "Zhoghovurd" has learned that a decision has been made to transfer the case from the Military Investigation Department to the Criminalistics Department of the RA Investigation Committee, where more extensive criminal cases related to the 44-day war are being examined, and it will be attached to these cases.

It is noteworthy that quite fragmented testimonies have been given in this criminal case, indicating that, ultimately, Azerbaijan could not have known about the former commander's movements independently. Recall that Jalal Harutyunyan was wounded at a combat position in October 2020 and was relieved of his duties as the Minister of Defense – Commander of the Defense Army on October 27 by the decree of the President of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan. His injury remains a mystery to many, as it prompts questions about how the adversary was informed of his location and movements.
