Azerbaijanis Strengthen Positions 1-1.5 km Away, Military Forces Outnumber Ours
The Azerbaijanis are positioned 1-1.5 km away from the village of David Bek in the Syunik region, but there are no dangerous entries into the village, and they do not engage in provocations; instead, they are strengthening their positions.
The administrative leader, Benjamin Poghosyan, informed "Factinfo" in an interview that about two weeks ago, some animals crossed into the Azerbaijani side, and they have not been returned to date.
“We have not had similar incidents where Azerbaijanis enter our territory. On July 14, five livestock crossed the border, and we have not managed to bring them back. We have also informed the Russians, but Azerbaijan states that no livestock crossed into their territory,” Poghosyan said.
On the other side of the border, Azerbaijani forces had actively been constructing positions three months ago. The number of Azerbaijani armed forces is relatively higher.
“They continue their activities and are reinforcing their positions. Their setup is a bit better than ours. They have fewer positions, but they are larger and more numerous,” the administrative leader remarked, noting that their military numbers exceed ours, indicating, “They are definitely more than us.”
Poghosyan mentioned that before the war, the village had 500 residents, while currently, only 440 reside in David Bek. The village lacks gas supply, and after the war, 50 hectares of privatized land have passed to the Azerbaijani side. Due to the war, villagers could not undertake sowing in the fields near the border, but they organized and completed the hay harvest.
According to Poghosyan, all residents have been affected. They have also suffered due to shelling, which damaged 93 homes, for which the state has provided compensation. “In any case, the residents do not feel very safe. Although there are no gunfire incidents or similar cases here,” he concluded.
