Authorities Aim to Remove Vahe Hakobyan from Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine Board Chair Position: "Zhoghovurd"
According to information from the "Zhoghovurd" daily, the local authorities plan to remove Vahe Hakobyan, a member of the "Armenia" faction, from the position of chairman of the board of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine. According to our sources, this process is being carried out under the direct instruction of Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Our sources report that Pashinyan has stated in his inner circle that Hakobyan must be punished and stripped of his position for being met with insults in Syunik Province and for rallying community leaders against him. Reports indicate that Pashinyan has even mentioned that he has the "green light" from Russia to achieve his goal and will pursue it at all costs.
Recall that on July 14, the NSS special forces had blocked the entrances to the administrative building of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine and detained various employees without any explanation. In a conversation with us, Vahe Hakobyan stated that they were not being given any explanations for these actions and that some special operations were being conducted.
For several days now, we have been trying to discuss these issues with Vahe Hakobyan, but to no avail; he has not responded to our phone calls. Moreover, inspections and the process of identifying problems in the mine are being conducted by both the NSS and other state regulatory bodies.
