Armenian Armed Forces Record At Least 66 Deaths Since November 11

Since November 11, 2020, when the trilateral statement on the ceasefire between Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan went into effect, the Armenian army has recorded at least 66 deaths among servicemen, volunteers, and reservists. Among these, 24 are classified as combat losses, resulting from incidents such as the Azerbaijani attack on Khzevaberd-Hin Tagher, the killings of trapped Armenian servicemen in occupied territories of Artsakh, border clashes during May-July 2021, and landmine explosions.

At the same time, there have been 42 non-combat losses, including suicides, deaths from illnesses, traffic accidents, murders, and violations of safety regulations with weapons.

Since November 10, Azerbaijan has not only failed to return all captured Armenian servicemen and civilians, as mandated by the trilateral statement, but has also continued to take new captives, with the number reaching up to 85. According to our observations, at least 30 individuals taken captive after November 10 have been returned, with 15 of them in exchange for maps of the minefields.

During the same period, 3 servicemen have gone missing. One of them, conscript Norik Mkrtchyan, voluntarily left the Vardenis military unit on May 18 and has not been found. Communication was lost with servicemen A. Nalbandyan and A. Torozyan on July 14 in the area of Lake Seyr in Syunik. To this day, they have not been located, and the Ministry of Defense has not ruled out the possibility that they may have been captured by Azerbaijani forces. The servicemen were unarmed.
