Turkey Denies Claims of Creating Turkic Army with Azerbaijan

Turkey's Parliament Speaker Mustafa Sentop has stated that he did not discuss negotiations regarding the establishment of a joint Turkic army between Baku and Ankara, and that only joint military exercises are currently being conducted between the two countries. This was reported by Azerbaijani media.

The Turkish embassy in Azerbaijan also announced that Sentop did not make such a statement and that his words were miscommunicated. In particular, in response to a question about the possible establishment of a joint Turkic army, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly answered, 'We are signing many agreements between Azerbaijan and Turkey, including those concerning defense production and military support. Significant work is being done within the framework of these agreements, including joint exercises. However, our main motto, as Heydar Aliyev said, is 'one nation, two states.' Considerable efforts are being made in this direction.'
