The Deceased Koryun Harutyunyan Was a 6-Month Soldier from Hrazdan City

Koryun Arayik Harutyunyan, one of the soldiers killed during the Azerbaijani attack last night, was 18 years old and from Hrazdan in the Kotayk region. He was conscripted into the army in February 2021, as reported by his relative Ani Arakelyan in an interview with NEWS.am.

Koryun was the fourth child in the family, with three older sisters. After finishing school, he enrolled at the Armenian National Agrarian University, but after a few months of studying, he was called to the army.

Koryun was close friends with another soldier, Davit Kocharyan, who also lost his life in the Azerbaijani attack.

“Koryun was very strong both in will and physically. He had been involved in sports from a young age. He had come on leave just 15 days ago for a week and was very excited about sharing stories from his military life. He was a loyal and dedicated friend,” Ani recounted.

Since last night, Koryun's relatives have not been able to establish contact with him.

It should be noted that Senior Lieutenant Haik Gevorgyan also lost his life while resisting provocations by the Azerbaijani armed forces.

Recall that on July 28, at approximately 03:40, units of the Azerbaijani armed forces once again provoked and violated the ceasefire in the northeastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. According to the Ministry of Defense, local battles ensued.

Later, the Ministry of Defense announced that through the mediation of the Russian peacekeeping forces' command, an agreement was reached to restore the ceasefire regime along the contact line of Armenian and Azerbaijani forces in the northeastern direction. Currently, the mentioned agreement is being primarily upheld.

The Armenian side has suffered 3 fatalities and 4 injuries as a result of the Azerbaijani attack.
