Russian Peacekeepers Likely Released Captured Azerbaijani Soldiers Today, Says Alvina Agababyan

The head of the Center for Strategic Research, Alvina Agababyan, writes: "This morning, Armenian troops apprehended three Azerbaijani servicemen, including two majors and one private, who had crossed the contact line in the northern village of Martuni region in Artsakh.

According to sources, our soldiers disarmed the enemy's servicemen and seized their vehicle. However, shortly after, Russian peacekeepers intervened and took all three away. It is highly likely that the three were released.

Neither our soldiers nor the local population believe the assurances that the individuals had lost their way and accidentally crossed the contact line.

In a similar situation, Azerbaijan would never release our servicemen, or they would exchange them for maps of mined areas or other necessary information, or they would judge them as saboteurs, spies, and terrorists, as they did with our soldiers who were captured in Taghavard in December 2020.

Today, two Armenian captives, Davit Davtyan and Gevorg Sujyan, were unlawfully sentenced to six years of imprisonment, while the Armenian side apparently released the enemy's servicemen just like that, despite the fact that there are approximately 200 prisoners of war in Azerbaijan.
