Movement Noted on the Adversary’s Side: Current Situation in Syunik, Ararat, and Kut
Last night, the adversary launched offensive military operations along the borders of the Republic of Armenia, from Sotk to the Verin Shorja area. Combat operations have unfolded, with intense gunfire reported.
In an interview with ArmDaily.am, the mayor of the Kut community in Gegharkunik, Sima Chitchyan, noted that no gunfire has occurred in their area. “There is nothing happening in our village, and I have no information from neighboring villages,” said Chitchyan.
The news outlet also contacted the mayors of border communities in Syunik and the Yeraskh community in the Ararat region to clarify the situation there.
Local mayor Nerses Shadunts reported that while there is no gunfire, there are movements noted on the adversary's side. “The situation is under control, it’s normal, there is no gunfire, there is movement from the adversary, but I cannot determine if they are calm or restless. Some activities are being observed, but at this moment, they seem calm,” Shadunts said.
Shurnukh mayor Hakob Arshakyan mentioned that the situation in the village is calm at present. “I am currently outside the village, but I have inquired and everything is quiet. There are no incursions, nothing is happening, our area is completely calm. I cannot say anything specific about the adversary's movements at this time, but there have always been trucks coming through, and there have always been convoys, though I have not seen any specific military equipment,” Arshakyan stated.
Yeraskh mayor Radik Oghikyan confirmed that everything is calm on their end, and there are no gunfire incidents at the moment. When asked if there had been gunfire during the night, Oghikyan declined to comment.
