Altercation Over Smoking Ends in Murder, Investigative Committee Reports
The investigation into a murder case initiated by the Shirak Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee has been completed.
As a result of extensive investigative and procedural actions conducted during the investigation, it was established that on April 20, 2021, around 19:30, a 69-year-old man under the influence of alcohol contacted his wife and learned that she was at a neighboring house. He went there and, upon seeing that his wife was smoking, they got into an argument. During the altercation, he struck her on the head with his fists, and then, with the intent to unlawfully deprive her of life, he took out a knife that he had previously brought with him and inflicted fatal injuries upon her.
Based on the obtained substantial evidence, the man has been charged under the first part of Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code. He has been detained as a preventive measure. The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been forwarded to the prosecutor in order to confirm the accusatory conclusion and to send the case to court.
