Video: The Number of Afghan Refugees Crossing into Turkey Through Iran is Growing
After the agreements for the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, illegal crossings from that country into Turkey via Iranian territory have become more frequent. These crossings mainly occur in the Van province and are often captured and shared by local residents on social media. This was reported by ermenihaber.am.
It has been noted that in just the last week, more than 1,500 refugees have been arrested by the relevant services of Turkey for illegally crossing the border from Iran, with the overwhelming majority being from Afghanistan.
It is also worth mentioning that there are a significant number of individuals in Turkey involved in the illegal transportation of refugees. For a fee, they covertly transport refugees to the country's western border, from where the refugees attempt to cross into Europe.
