Special Report on the Humanitarian Consequences of the 44-Day War to be Released by PACE
Ermenihaber reports that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will publish a special report in September regarding the humanitarian consequences of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The study is being conducted by Irish parliamentarian Paul Givan. He will embark on a fact-finding mission to Azerbaijan from July 26-28.
According to a PACE statement, the European MP will meet with members of the Azerbaijani parliament, government representatives, and organizations involved in humanitarian issues. “He will also have the opportunity to listen to internally displaced persons and meet with the Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights,” the Assembly reports, adding, “the visit will allow for a better understanding of the role and contributions of international organizations, including the Red Cross and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, in addressing existing issues.”
It should be noted that in May, the Irish parliamentarian conducted a fact-finding mission to Yerevan.
