Manvel Paramazyan to Remain in Custody, Judge Issues Decision Without Lawyers Present

The Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Armen Danielyan, has rejected the appeal filed on behalf of Paramazyan. This was reported to Tert.am by defense attorneys Lusine Sahakyan and Ervand Varosyan, whose appeal was dismissed yesterday, after which the lawyers left the courtroom.

Ervand Varosyan stated that after they left the courtroom, the judge continued the session and announced the decision. "If we did not expect this decision, we would not have left the room. We submitted a disqualification request because expecting any legal decision from Armen Danielyan would be naive. The very fact of how our appeal ended up under his consideration indicated that we cannot expect justice here," said Ervand Varosyan.

It should be noted that Manvel Paramazyan has been charged under Parts 3 of Article 38-178, Part 4 of Article 311, and Part 2 of Article 154.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Manvel Paramazyan does not accept the charges, arguing that all of this is part of a political persecution unleashed against him.
