Our Future is Building a Strong Armenia: Armen Sarkissian in Japan

During his working visit to Japan, the President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, met with representatives of the Armenian community in Japan.

The President specifically spoke about the goals of his visit to Japan, building a strong country, the role of the diaspora in that process, as well as the consequences of the war and the lessons learned from it.

"The enormous difficulties of war can be described in one word: crisis. It is a crisis because we have lost thousands of young lives, many young people have lost their health, and there is a moral and psychological crisis, as losing a war is psychologically difficult—especially for a nation that won a war 26 years ago," the president stated.

President Sarkissian emphasized that our future lies in building a strong Armenia, and for that, we must first exploit our greatest asset: human resources. Speaking about the importance of utilizing the potential of the diaspora for the country’s development, President Sarkissian considered constitutional reforms as one of the main pathways. "We must do everything to ensure that every Armenian, regardless of where they live, has the opportunity to serve their country as they wish, and no barriers should exist."

Emphasizing that a strong Armenia is also a technologically advanced Armenia, the president stated that all our efforts should be oriented towards the future. "The future is not ordinary programming, but artificial intelligence; it is not ordinary biology, but biotechnologies."

President Sarkissian mentioned that one of the goals of his visit to Japan is to meet with global leading companies in the technology sector. "Armenia and Japan can work together, especially in high technology. I hope that Japanese companies will participate in the technological development process of Armenia."
