Our Country Can No Longer Endure a Lockdown: Georgian Prime Minister Urges Vaccination

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, stated that the country cannot withstand another lockdown. According to Garibashvili, strict restrictions would be harmful to the Georgian economy. This was reported by 1tv.ge.

“Recently, there has been much discussion about whether we should close the country again, etc. I want to emphasize that we have chosen a different path. This is a path of governance. We must do everything to effectively manage the pandemic. Our country can no longer endure a new lockdown. Neither lockdowns nor such restrictions will be justified; moreover, it will be detrimental to our country’s economy. It would lead to the necessity of taking out additional several billion dollars, or lari loans. Therefore, if we do not have to do it, we urge everyone to get vaccinated, which is safe,” stated Irakli Garibashvili.
