How Much Will the Patrol Officers Be Paid?

The minimum salary for patrol officers will be 230,000 drams. This information was shared today by Arthur Umrshatyan, the head of the Patrol Service of the Police, during a press conference addressing the Patrol Service that started in Yerevan on July 7.

"Since salaries in the police are transferred at the end of the month, patrol officers have not yet been paid. The salary amount will depend on their positions: junior patrol officers, patrol officers, and senior patrol officers," said Umrshatyan.

In response to reporters’ questions about criticisms on social media claiming that patrol officers are inexperienced and cause more traffic jams while regulating traffic, Umrshatyan stated that these are subjective opinions. He noted that a citizen cannot understand why a patrol officer stops vehicle flow at a green light.

"All of this is a professional issue, even though we are making changes to the training program. Patrol officers need to acquire skills during their practical experience, while the public's expectations from the patrol are quite high in this short time. In other words, the service is new, and societal demands are greater, and we will do everything to meet that demand," Umrshatyan said.

Regarding issues related to patrol officers, he mentioned that there are no serious complaints from citizens but rather service-related problems.

Recall that the Patrol Service in Yerevan started on July 7. By the end of the first quarter of 2023, the patrol service will operate throughout the Republic of Armenia.
