Head of P. Sevak Community Discusses Gunfire from Azerbaijan towards Village and Nearby Lakes

Specifically, we have not recorded such incidents in our area. This was stated by Lyudvig Stepanyan, the head of the P. Sevak community of Ararat, in an interview with ArmDaily.am regarding reports of gunfire from Azerbaijan towards the village and nearby lakes.

“If there has been no change in this hour... I just left the area an hour ago, and the lakes are in the Yeraskh area. It is true that sometimes the sounds of gunfire can be heard there, but that is a neighboring community. Both villages are border-adjacent, but we have not recorded such incidents specifically in our area,” the community leader said.

When asked when the last gunfire incidents occurred around the village, Stepanyan replied, “I cannot specifically report that there has been such an incident directed at the village, but there have always been sounds of gunfire. You cannot say specifically that there was gunfire in this area or that area; it has always existed. I cannot say that there has been gunfire today or in the last few days. However, a month or two ago, there was a sound of gunfire, but we cannot say it was substantiated for any reason.”

Speaking about the mood among the residents, the community leader noted that there is no panic because people are accustomed to it. “They are, so to speak, used to it. There is no panic because we think that we will probably be limited to this much,” the community leader stated.
