Delta Variant of Coronavirus Is Circulating in Armenia, Says Anahit Avanesyan

During a briefing with reporters today, Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan addressed the situation regarding COVID-19, stating:

“The increase in coronavirus cases is not sharp; it is gradual. However, we understand that there is a risk of a new wave arriving in the first half of autumn. As for the Delta variant, we currently do not have sequenced samples. Of course, it is circulating in Armenia as we have open borders with both Russia and Georgia, and this variant constitutes a majority in many European countries.”
