Record Cold in Southern Africa: Children See Snow for the First Time

Record low temperatures were recorded in the Republic of South Africa last night, where it is currently winter. On the night of July 24, historic low temperature records were exceeded in 19 districts across the country. In the city of Kimberly and surrounding areas, the cold reached -9.9 degrees Celsius. According to experts, such cold has never been recorded in the history of meteorological observations in this region.

In Johannesburg, temperatures dropped to -7 degrees. The previous record low of -6.3 degrees was recorded in this city on July 19, 1995. In some areas, children and teenagers are seeing snow for the first time. Many roads are closed due to ice.
