Surik Papikyan to Become Super Deputy Prime Minister from Super Minister
The newspaper ‘Hraparak’ reports that Suren Papikyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, is set to transition from a super minister to a super deputy prime minister. He will directly manage the government’s financial resources, both in direct and indirect senses.
With his move to the government, it can be said that the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure will be dismantled; nearly all its functions will be removed from the ministry's structure and placed under the authority of the deputy prime minister.
As known, the ministry oversees four bodies: the Water Committee, the Migration Service, the State Property Management Committee, and Civil Aviation. Additionally, there are about twenty state non-commercial organizations, such as the Waterworks, the Nuclear Power Plant, and the Electricity Distribution Network.
With the structural changes in the government and the decisions of the prime minister, the most profitable and money-generating sectors will fall under Papikyan's jurisdiction. Even road construction, in some committee form, will exit the ministry and come directly under Papikyan’s management. Regional governors will also fall under his jurisdiction.
This is the reason why Romanos Petrosyan is refusing to be appointed as minister of territorial administration.
