The Head of Vorotan is Under Medical Supervision, Lawyer Says
In a conversation with ArmDaily.am, the lawyer of Suren Ohanyan, the head of the Vorotan community in the Syunik region, Arsen Vardanyan stated that his client is under medical supervision.
“Mr. Ohanyan is under the supervision of doctors—although not on a daily basis, doctors do visit him. Visits are prohibited; relatives are not allowed to see him,” Vardanyan reported.
He added that they are waiting for a date to be set for the appellate court session and stated that regardless of expectations, they need to file an appeal in the Appellate Court.
Regarding Suren Ohanyan's condition, he noted that the latter feels normal, while there are no news updates regarding the case.
It is noteworthy that the head of Vorotan was arrested on July 9, on charges of bribing multiple individuals during the elections. However, residents of Vorotan claim that investigators attempted to coerce them into testifying against the village head and demand his release.
Suren Ohanyan is a veteran of three Artsakh wars, classified as a second-degree disabled person, and has accompanying health conditions.
