Lockdowns and Strict Measures Excluded in Georgia, Epidemiologist Says

The director of Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital, Tengiz Tsertsvadze, emphasizes that the overall situation in the country demands significant attention as a sharp increase in infection cases has been recorded. At the same time, the expert rules out the possibility of further restrictions, stating that the healthcare sector is prepared for the anticipated rise, as reported by Aliq.ge.

"I exclude the return of lockdowns and strict restrictions in the coming days. Personally, I do not support that, and as far as I know, the government does not support it either. Businesses have reopened, and people have returned to normal life. The rise in infections is expected, and it is necessary to comply with the standards we currently have. Wearing masks in confined spaces and crowded places, as well as tightening control at border checkpoints, is essential. Today, the situation is not critical, and we will successfully treat those affected. We have the resources to successfully cope with today’s reality, and even a bit more," Tsertsvadze reassured.
