Former Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Suing the Council

Former Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Ruben Vardazaryan has filed a lawsuit against the Supreme Judicial Council. This information has been reported in the Datalex legal information system.

According to the published information, Ruben Vardazaryan demands the recognition of the existence of legal relations regarding the termination of his authority as a judge of the first instance court of Yerevan and as a member (president) of the Supreme Judicial Council.

It is noted that on July 9, it became known that the rights of Ruben Vardazaryan had been restored by the first instance court of Yerevan.

“Based on the mentioned judicial act, Ruben Vardazaryan has submitted a request to the Supreme Judicial Council, expecting a review of the decision on the suspension of his authorities. The Supreme Judicial Council states that it is not the addressee of the decision of the first instance court of Yerevan,” the statement reads.

It is also mentioned that the Supreme Judicial Council cannot address the issue of reviewing the decision to suspend Vardazaryan's authorities until the conclusion of the criminal proceedings that served as the basis for his suspension.
