Aliyev Again Discusses Zangezur and Explains Why They Entered Syunik in May

Azerbaijan will continue to strengthen its positions along the border with Armenia, stated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Recalling that the President of the European Council referred to the border areas as "disputed" during a visit to Yerevan, Aliyev emphasized that he disagrees with this characterization.

"I believe this is the territory of Zangezur. Zangezur is the land of our ancestors, and we are on our own land," said the Azerbaijani autocrat in an interview with AzTV. According to him, the same issue was discussed during Michel's visit to Baku. "I tried to explain to him that we have reached our borders. And why did we only do this in May? Because the snow melted. After that, we took the necessary heights, settled there, fortified our positions, and we will further strengthen ourselves," he stressed.
