South Caucasian Railway to Receive Two New Modern Electric Trains Soon
On July 22, a ceremony took place at the Demikhovo Machine-Building Plant for the acceptance of two new modern EP2D electric trains. Soon, they will arrive in Armenia and operate on the South Caucasian Railway's busiest route, Yerevan-Gyumri-Yerevan, providing passengers with new comfortable conditions.
As noted by the CEO of South Caucasian Railway, Alexey Melnikov, these electric trains have been operating quite successfully in Armenia since 2018. "We are very pleased with the collaboration with Transmashholding and the enterprises within its structure, both during the construction of the rolling stock and throughout the operation and warranty service phases, and we hope that our mutually beneficial cooperation will continue," emphasized Melnikov.
The EP2D electric train fully complies with all safety regulations for passenger transport. It features ventilation, disinfection, fire safety, and security systems. Current information about the route is displayed on screens installed in each carriage. The train is comfortable for everyone, including passengers with mobility impairments, and offers free Wi-Fi access. Smoking is prohibited on the train.
