Police Provide Details on Enhanced Operations in Yerevan

The Police of the Republic of Armenia has presented details regarding the enhanced police operations conducted in Yerevan on the evening of July 21.

"Enhanced operations were carried out in the capital on the evening of July 21. Prior to the start, Deputy Chief of Police Aram Hovhannisyan instructed the officers from the main department of criminal police, the Yerevan city department and its subordinate divisions, the patrol service, and the road police involved in the operations. He presented the objectives of the enhanced operations to the unit leaders, which included maintaining public order, ensuring road safety, and preventing and uncovering crimes and administrative violations.

During the enhanced operations conducted in Yerevan and the surrounding roadways, 49 individuals were apprehended on various suspicions, searches and inspections were carried out, resulting in the discovery of various types of firearms, ammunition, and more. During the operations, four cases of illegal drug trafficking were also uncovered, including different types of narcotics, notably substances resembling methamphetamine. A fake car license plate was also discovered. Two of the apprehended individuals were subsequently arrested.

We can affirm that the enhanced operation was effective. Such special measures are periodic," stated the police.
