Our 10-Year Struggle Culminates in Success, We Will Punish Azerbaijan in Every Similar Case

The leader of the 'Enlightened Armenia' party, Edmond Marukyan, made a post on his Facebook page: 'The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has obliged Azerbaijan to pay 30,000 euros to Arthur Badalyan, who was released from captivity. Our nearly 10-year struggle has been crowned with success. We will punish Azerbaijan in every similar case.'

The European Court of Human Rights published another ruling against Azerbaijan, confirming that Azerbaijan tortured and unlawfully deprived Armenian citizen Arthur Badalyan of his freedom, who had lost his way and ended up in Azerbaijan's territory. I remind you that this case was submitted to the ECHR by me as Arthur Badalyan's lawyer back in 2011 through the Human Rights NGO 'Center for Strategic Litigation,' which I lead. In this case, Arthur Badalyan has continued to be represented at the ECHR by the lawyer Tatevik Matinyan from the 'Center for Strategic Litigation.'
