Haik Martirosyan Wins First Game Against Ante Brkic in 1/16 Finals
In the first round of the 1/16 finals of the World Chess Cup taking place in Sochi, 21-year-old Armenian grandmaster Haik Martirosyan achieved victory playing with white pieces against Croatian grandmaster Ante Brkic. The Croatian grandmaster resigned on the 48th move.
The second game of the match will take place tomorrow, where Haik will play with black pieces. In the event of a win or a draw, the Armenian grandmaster will secure a spot in the 1/8 finals.
