WHO Warns of Emergence of More Dangerous Coronavirus Variant

A new variant of the coronavirus that may be more dangerous than Delta could emerge globally, according to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as reported by RIA Novosti.

He stated that the continued spread of the virus could contribute to the arising of new variants. “The more the coronavirus spreads, the more variants may emerge that could perhaps be more dangerous than the Delta variant, which is currently causing significant harm. The more variants of the virus there are, the greater the likelihood that vaccines may be ineffective against one of them, and we may return to the very beginning,” noted the WHO chief.
