Russia Welcomes EU’s Desire to Assist Armenia and Azerbaijan
The Russian side has welcomed the European Union's desire to assist Armenia and Azerbaijan in establishing dialogue. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, as reported by Russian media.
“If mediation efforts bring peace, stability, and predictability, and help implement existing agreements, they can only be welcomed,” Peskov said.
Commenting on the implementation of agreements between the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan regarding Nagorno-Karabakh, Peskov noted that the process is not going poorly, but Moscow is not opposed to additional mediation efforts.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin is in constant contact with both Armenian Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“You know that the trilateral agreements were concluded with the active involvement of President Putin, and they are being implemented with his active participation,” Peskov stated.
He added that the sides are currently focused on the matters related to the agreements that have been reached.
